‘Oogapels‘ Wins Prestigious golden Calf for Best Series
Amsterdam, Netherlands – BNNVARA’s critically acclaimed series oogapels took home teh top prize for Best Series at the 2024 Golden Calf Awards, marking its first win in the category. The sixth season of the drama competed against VPRO’s Hein and Disney+’s Nemesis for the coveted award.
the win for Oogapels follows its earlier success,having also secured the Golden Televizier ring in 2023,a public award recognizing popular television programming. The Golden Calf Awards celebrate excellence in Dutch film and television.
Ahlaam Teghadouini, for her performance in Sihame, was recognized as Best Leading Role in a Drama Series. The award for Best Scenario was presented to Karen van Holst Pellekaan and Alexander de Bruijn for their writing on the series Bennie.
Bianca Krijgsman earned her first Golden Calf for her supporting role in the second season of Dag & Nacht. She was nominated alongside fellow actresses Beppie Melissen (Gooische Women) and Hadewych Minis (Bennie). Krijgsman had previously been nominated in 2023 for Best Supporting Role in a Drama Series, an award that went to Marit van Bohemen for her work in judas II: Diary of a Witness.
Eva Crutzen was honored with the Golden Calf for best Direction of a Drama Series for her work on Soil. This marks her first Golden Calf win in the directing category, though she had been previously nominated twice for Best Leading Role, including in 2023 for Soil.
The awards ceremony saw moments of anticipation, with actress Beppie Melissen having prepared a speech in case of victory, but ultimately remaining seated as the awards were announced.
