Palermo audiences will gain a candid look into the realities of a working actress’s life this Sunday, as Giovanna Carrozza debuts her new monologue, “Mirror, mirror of my craving, I am an actress, but I am hungry,” at the Teatro al Convento.
The performance, written by Valeria Martorelli, offers a sharply ironic portrayal of the challenges faced by women in the Sicilian theater and entertainment industries-navigating careers alongside the demands of family and daily life. carrozza’s show isn’t simply entertainment; it’s a vital conversation starter about the often-invisible struggles of artists striving to sustain themselves in a demanding profession. The monologue aims to restore a realistic perspective on the craft, moving beyond the glamour to reveal its complexities.
“I will tell the life of a poor actress: from the dream of a child to the concrete meaning of living today of theater in Palermo,” Carrozza explained, highlighting the show’s deeply personal and localized focus.
Carlos Cammino joins Carrozza onstage, with original musical compositions by Salvo Vitale enhancing the performance. Tickets are 12 euros and the show begins at 6 pm at the Teatro al Convento, located at via Castellana bandiera 66.
