Caroline Polachek adn Danny L Harle Unveil Collaborative Track “azimuth”
Electronic musician Danny L Harle has released a new song,”Azimuth,” featuring vocals from Caroline Polachek. The track, released via XL Recordings, marks a culmination of Harle and Polachek’s ongoing creative partnership. A European tour supporting the release has also been announced.
Harle describes “Azimuth” as the realization of a long-held ambition to integrate Polachek’s vocal style - which he terms the “trance siren” – into his dance music. He notes previous explorations of this sound in tracks like “Insomnia” from Pang and “On the Beach” from Death Stranding 2, but states this is the first time he’s successfully translated it into his own style. “Azimuth’s melody could only have been sung by Caroline,” Harle said, “it is designed around her voice, I couldn’t imagine anyone else singing it or giving a performance like that.”
The collaboration follows Harle’s July release of “Starlight” with PinkPantheress, his first solo work since his 2021 debut album,Harlecore. Polachek recently shared her single “dang” in October, followed by ”Starburned and Unkissed” from the I Saw the TV Glow soundtrack and a featured appearance on the Caroline album Caroline 2.She also co-produced and co-wrote the title track, “On the Beach,” for the upcoming video game Death Stranding 2 with Harle and death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima.
