Real España Secures Spot in 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup, Awaits Semifinal Opponent
Real España has advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 Central American Cup after defeating Plaza Amador of Panama, simultaneously qualifying for the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.The Honduran team’s quarterfinal victory guarantees their participation in the continental tournament, scheduled for February-May 2026, and provides an possibility to compete for a place in the 2029 club World Cup.
Real España will face either sporting San Miguelito of Panama or Xelajú MC of Guatemala in the semifinals. Those two teams will compete to determine who advances to face the “aurinegros.” The central American Cup series currently favors Xelajú MC with a 2-0 lead.
Qualification for the Concacaf Champions Cup also represents a notable financial boost for Real España.The tournament champion receives one of four regional berths in the Club World Cup.
Real España joins a growing list of qualified teams, including América, Toluca FC, CF Monterrey (runner-up), Cruz Azul, Tigres UANL, pumas UNAM, Seattle Sounders, Inter Miami, and LA Galaxy. The draw for the Concacaf Champions Cup will be held on December 9th, officially launching the competition for participating clubs.
