Ramos Poised to Enter HSV Starting Lineup, Challenging Omari’s Position
HSV coach Tim Walter is leaning towards including sebastian Ramos in the starting eleven for the upcoming match against Mainz 05 (5:30 p.m./Sky), perhaps replacing Josha Vagnoman. Ramos has demonstrated consistent performance during pre-season, contrasting with the recent absences of fellow defenders Jordan Torunarigha and Aboubaka Soumahoro.
Torunarigha is now fit again after recovering from Achilles tendon issues that caused him to miss three games, but could find himself competing with Ramos and Daniel Elfadli for a spot in the back three. Soumahoro was unavailable for the Berlin match and subsequently sidelined due to illness. Walter indicated the adaptability to substitute “one to one with GUI [Vagnoman] or with Daniel Elfadli,” who could shift to the left side, allowing a left-footed player to close the gap on the right.
Ramos brings notable Bundesliga experience to the HSV squad, having played 14 games for Arminia Bielefeld during the 2021/22 season, often completing the full 90 minutes. In contrast, Vagnoman is expected to require more time before becoming a consistent contender for a starting role.
