Alleged cop killer Dezi Freeman’s extreme and fanatical views existed for many years, say family and former friends

Victoria Police continue a large-scale search for Dezi Freeman, a man wanted in connection with the shooting death ⁤of a police officer, as emerging details‌ reveal a long history ​of extremist views.⁤ More⁣ than 200 officers are currently searching the ⁣region for Freeman,​ who police have publicly stated they consider armed and hazardous. Family⁤ and former friends describe ​Freeman ⁤as holding ​extreme and fanatical beliefs⁢ for many years, predating the alleged shooting. These views, while ‌not specifically detailed, reportedly fueled a deep distrust of government and authority. ‍Luke Filby, Freeman’s nephew, stated, “He wouldn’t⁢ want the satisfaction of the government taking his life, for the government to take his life. He ​wouldn’t want⁤ to give them that satisfaction.”‍

Police are⁣ keeping all options open in the investigation, seeking ‍any‌ contact or evidence confirming Freeman’s whereabouts and wellbeing. The⁤ search intensifies as concerns grow⁣ regarding Freeman’s potential state of mind, with Filby ‌suggesting his uncle may have⁢ taken his ⁤own life.
