CBF to Unveil 2026 Brazilian Football Calendar This Wednesday
Rio de Janeiro – The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) will reveal the official calendar for the 2026 Brazilian football season at a press event next Wednesday, October 1st, at 10:00 AM at its Rio de Janeiro headquarters. The announcement comes amid growing calls for reform to address fixture congestion and optimize the schedule around the FIFA World Cup.
The forthcoming calendar is anticipated to feature a reduced number of matches and potential adjustments to the structure of state championships. CBF president Samir xaud has publicly acknowledged the need for a more streamlined schedule, responding to concerns about the demanding workload placed on players and the impact on match quality. The 2026 season will also incorporate a mandatory pause to accommodate the FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, from June 11th to July 19th.
Xaud stated in August, “It is indeed necessary, it is due. And our technical team is working to best adjust the 2026 calendar.”
The event will detail the complete schedule for Brazilian football in 2026,outlining key dates for national leagues, cup competitions, and state tournaments.Stakeholders including clubs, players, and fans will be closely watching for specifics on how the CBF intends to balance competitive demands with player welfare and the international calendar.
