León Manager Eduardo Berizzo Resigns Following Loss to Juárez
León announced today that Eduardo Berizzo has resigned as the club’s technical director, with the resignation accepted by mutual agreement. The move comes a day after León suffered a 2-0 defeat against FC Juárez on matchday 11 of the Apertura 2025 tournament.
Berizzo’s departure marks a significant shift for the club, which is currently tenth in the Liga MX general table with 12 points (three wins, three draws, adn five losses). The resignation concludes a year-long tenure for Berizzo, who took charge on the seventh matchday of the Apertura 2024 season.
“This decision, very painful for us, honors Eduardo’s personal and professional trajectory: an entire man and full of sports values, which always put the needs of the group, the team, the players and the peopel who are part of the institution, before theirs,” the club stated in a press release.
During his 44 matches leading León, Berizzo recorded 15 wins, 11 draws, and 18 losses, with the team scoring 59 goals and conceding 68. His coaching staff,including Sebastián Rambert,Ernesto Marcucci,Roberto Bonano,and Fernando Morelli,also depart with the club’s gratitude and an open invitation to return in the future.
león is now working to identify a replacement ahead of their match against Toluca, the current Mexican champion, on Saturday, October 4th.
