León Coach Berizzo Resigns Amidst 2-0 Loss to Juárez

León Manager Eduardo Berizzo Resigns Following Loss to Juárez

León announced today that Eduardo ‍Berizzo has resigned as the club’s technical director, with the⁣ resignation‍ accepted by mutual agreement. The move comes a day after León suffered a 2-0⁢ defeat against FC Juárez on matchday 11 of the Apertura 2025 ⁢tournament.

Berizzo’s departure marks a significant shift for the club, ⁢which is currently tenth in the Liga MX general ‌table with 12 points (three​ wins, three draws, adn five‍ losses). The resignation concludes ⁢a‍ year-long‍ tenure for Berizzo, who took charge on the seventh matchday of the Apertura⁤ 2024 season.

“This decision, very painful⁣ for us, honors Eduardo’s personal and professional‍ trajectory: an entire man and ‍full of‌ sports values,​ which always put the⁣ needs of the group, the team, the players and the peopel who are part of the institution, before theirs,” the club stated in a press‍ release.

During his 44 matches leading León, Berizzo recorded 15​ wins,⁤ 11 draws, and ⁤18 losses,‍ with the team scoring 59 goals and conceding 68. His coaching staff,including Sebastián Rambert,Ernesto Marcucci,Roberto Bonano,and‌ Fernando Morelli,also depart with the‌ club’s gratitude and an open invitation to⁤ return in the future.

león is now working to identify a replacement ahead of⁤ their match⁣ against Toluca,‌ the current Mexican champion, on Saturday, October 4th.
