Free Health Campaign Brings Care to Over 1,500 in Huacho‘s Ciudad Satellite
HUACHO,Peru – A two-day specialized medical campaign delivered free healthcare to 1,513 residents of Ciudad satellite in Huacho,Peru,on September 24 and 25,2025. The initiative, organized by the Health and Population Commission of the Congress of the Republic in coordination with Milo Mobile and hosted at the Association Pro Housing Buenaventura premises, aimed to provide access to specialized medical services for a community with limited options.
the campaign addressed a critical need for healthcare access in the area, offering a range of services frequently enough unavailable locally. Congresswoman Magaly Ruiz Rodríguez, chair of the Health and Population Commission, emphasized the importance of equitable healthcare access, stating, “Health should not be a privilege, but a right. With this campaign we demonstrate that, working together, we can bring health services closer to our population and guarantee decent and quality care.”
The most in-demand specialties included triaging (275 consultations),ophthalmology and visual counseling (250),optometry (125),and general medicine (106). Additional services provided encompassed pediatrics (44),dermatology (48),laboratory tests (114),gynecology,geriatrics,pneumology,general surgery,psychology,obstetrics,nutrition,ultrasounds,dentistry,immunizations,and screenings for HIV,syphilis,and hepatitis. Sixty-seven free lenses were distributed, and cauterization procedures were performed.
Community members expressed gratitude for the medical and technical staff’s presence and the campaign’s positive impact on disease detection, treatment, and prevention.The Health and Population Commission affirmed its commitment to continuing to deliver health, prevention, and hope to families across the country, prioritizing those most in need.
