University of Massachusetts Amherst Chemistry Department Seeks Experimental Materials Chemist

Teh department of Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst) is accepting applications for a full-time,tenure-track faculty position beginning in the academic year. The position focuses on developing or continuing a robust research program in Experimental materials Chemistry, with a particular interest in candidates specializing in Inorganic Materials Chemistry.

The department is seeking applicants qualified for the Assistant Professor rank, though highly qualified candidates at other ranks will be considered. UMass Amherst particularly encourages applications from women and individuals from groups currently underrepresented in the field of Chemistry. A doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent in Chemistry or a closely related discipline, coupled with relevant postdoctoral experience, is required.

The successful candidate will become an integral part of UMass Amherst’s collaborative and interdisciplinary materials science and engineering community. They will also contribute to the newly established interdisciplinary Materials Science and Engineering Graduate Program (MSE IDGP – https://websites.umass.edu/mseidgp/), which unites over 60 faculty members from the College of Natural Sciences and the College of Engineering.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $79,350 to $117,448. This range is determined by the collective bargaining agreement between the University and the Massachusetts Society of Professors, UMass Amherst/MTA/NEA, with the lower end representing the minimum salary for the rank and the higher end reflecting potential experience. The final salary will be determined by the University based on a extensive evaluation of relevant factors.
