NJ Health Leaders Urge vaccination as Respiratory virus Season Approaches
TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey department of Health leaders received their annual flu and updated COVID-19 vaccinations today, publicly encouraging residents to do the same ahead of the fall and winter respiratory virus season. The proactive step underscores the state’s commitment to public health and aims to mitigate the potential impact of circulating viruses.
As cases of COVID-19, influenza, and other respiratory illnesses are expected to rise in the coming months, health officials emphasize vaccination as the most effective tool to protect individuals and communities. The timing of this announcement is critical, allowing residents ample prospect to get vaccinated before peak virus activity begins, possibly reducing severe illness, hospitalizations, and strain on healthcare systems. Vaccination is recommended for nearly all New Jerseyans six months and older.
“Getting vaccinated against both the flu and COVID-19 is a simple yet powerful way to safeguard yoru health and the health of those around you,” said a Department of Health spokesperson. “These vaccines are safe, effective, and readily available throughout the state.”
New Jersey residents can find vaccination locations through the state’s vaccine finder website and by contacting their healthcare providers. The Department of Health continues to monitor virus activity and will provide updates and guidance as the season progresses.
