Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Park Declared a Resounding Success, Attracting Millions & Major Events
HONG KONG – Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) is rapidly establishing itself as a premier event destination, having welcomed over seven million visitors – including over one million to Kai Tak Stadium alone – since its opening, according to park officials. The integrated sports, leisure, and entertainment hub has hosted more than 30 local and international sporting events, alongside a diverse calendar of entertainment offerings, significantly boosting Hong Kong‘s capacity to host world-class competitions and spectacles.
KTSP’s broad appeal was demonstrated in July with the Hong kong football Festival, which drew nearly 100,000 spectators across just two matches. The park also saw a strong showing of local support for the AFC Asian Cup match between Hong Kong, China and India, attracting over 42,000 fans to its inaugural football event at Kai Tak Stadium.
A major coup for the venue came with the relocation of the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens to kai Tak Stadium in 2025.The three-day event exceeded 110,000 attendees, representing a nearly 15% increase from the previous year, and included over 30,000 international visitors.
“The response from Hong Kong sports fans has been overwhelmingly positive,” a KTSP spokesperson stated.
Looking ahead, KTSP’s calendar remains packed. October will see Hong Kong china XVs play thier first rugby match at the stadium, against Japan. A ”RED on RED: Gerrard 11 vs Rio 11″ exhibition match featuring Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard and Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand is also scheduled. The Hong Kong, China Representative Team will return for an Asian Cup Qualifier against Bangladesh, and the Ultimate Tennis Showdown will make its Asian debut at Kai Tak Arena. Moreover, KTSP will serve as a key venue for the 2025 National Games of the People’s Republic of China, co-hosted by Hong Kong, from November 9-21.
Beyond attracting major events, KTSP is focused on community engagement and sustainability. The park plans to continue developing programs and workshops for local residents and supporting global sports progress. Initiatives focused on waste reduction, renewable energy, and conservation are also being implemented to enhance the visitor experience.
“apart from creating attractive content to draw local and global audiences and support economic growth, KTSP will continue to promote community engagement… while also supporting sports development on a global scale,” the spokesperson added. “We are continuously seeking to develop these initiatives that further enhance the visitors’ overall experience.”
