Zelensky⁤ Addresses UN General Assembly, Urges Global Unity Amidst Russian Aggression

NEW YORK – September 23, 2025 – ‌ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a highly anticipated address ⁤to ‌the United Nations General⁢ Assembly today,⁣ calling‍ for sustained international support as his nation continues to defend itself against Russian invasion. The speech, delivered from the UN gallery in New York, underscored the critical need for global unity in upholding international law and preventing the “selfishness⁣ of some” from undermining collective security.

Zelensky’s⁣ address comes as former‍ U.S.⁣ President ⁤Donald Trump recently stated Ukraine could “Regain its territory in its original form and perhaps even go further” against⁢ Russia⁣ – a sentiment welcomed by French‌ President Emmanuel Macron. Macron praised Trump’s shift, stating, “I congratulate myself to see that the American president believes in the capacity ‍of Ukraine not⁤ simply to hold, but to assert his rights with us.”

Macron, also speaking at ‍the‌ UN General Assembly, emphasized France’s commitment to Ukraine, asserting, ⁣ “It is because ‌it refuses the double standard, this⁣ two weights, two measures, that France ‍also ⁣engages alongside‌ Ukraine,” and extending that principle to ‌peace efforts in‍ the Middle East. He cautioned against “the risk of‌ seeing the law of the strongest‌ prevail” and warned against those who seek to reshape global ‌rules to serve ⁤their own interests.

Zelensky’s speech echoed these concerns, implicitly addressing ⁣what Macron ⁢described as the “Worse criticism” coming from ‌those “who want ⁣to change the‍ rules of the game, sure that they are⁤ of their domination and‍ more interested in sharing the world than to identify the compromises necessary for the common good.”

Macron further noted the urgency of⁣ the moment, stating, “We live a paradoxical moment when we need more than ever ‌to restore the spirit of cooperation that prevailed eighty years ago” ⁣ at the ⁣founding of the United nations, while simultaneously facing⁢ increasing divisions that hinder the resolution of global conflicts.
