Golden Knights Trim Training Camp, Assign Latvian Prospect Peteris Bulans
LAS VEGAS – The Vegas Golden Knights announced their first roster moves of the pre-season training camp on Sunday, assigning eight players to their respective teams.Among those released is Latvian defenseman Peteris Bulans, who attended camp as an undrafted free agent.
The move signals the start of roster cuts as the Golden Knights prepare for the upcoming 2025-2026 NHL season. While Bulans did not make the initial cut,the assignment allows him to continue his growth within the organization’s system. This is a common practise for teams evaluating young talent, providing opportunities for players to hone their skills at lower levels before possibly earning a spot on the NHL roster in the future.
Bulans, 20, spent the last three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He began the 2022-2023 season with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan before being traded to the Chicoutimi Saguenéens, where he remained for the following year.
During the 2023-2024 QMJHL season, Bulans registered five goals adn 19 assists for 24 points in 54 regular season games, accumulating six penalty minutes and a -6 plus/minus rating. He also appeared in 11 playoff games, recording one goal and three assists for four points, with four penalty minutes and a -1 plus/minus.
The Latvian prospect has also represented his country on the international stage, participating in two IIHF U18 World Championships and two U20 World Championships. He served as captain of the Latvian U20 team at the most recent championship, where thay reached the quarterfinals after a stunning victory over Canada in the group stage – a game in which Bulans scored a goal.
