Chelsea‘s Mykhailo Mudryk Eyes Olympic Sprinting Career After Doping Suspension

Ukrainian footballer Mykhailo mudryk, signed by Chelsea FC for €100 million in January 2023, is pursuing a career change to track and field following a doping suspension, according to Spanish sports publication Marca on Friday evening.Mudryk aims to compete as a sprinter for Ukraine at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

The winger’s Chelsea career failed to live up to expectations, yielding 10 goals and 11 assists in 73 appearances. he was suspended in April of this year pending a four-year ban from the English Football Association due to a doping violation. While awaiting the FA’s decision, Mudryk has reportedly begun training on the athletics track wiht his national team.

interestingly,Mudryk demonstrated considerable speed during his time in football,reaching 36.67 kilometers per hour during his Premier League debut. This is comparable to the 37.38 km/h recorded by Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven. For context, Usain Bolt’s 100-meter world record (9.58 seconds) translates to an average speed of approximately 37.5 km/h.
