Kim Kardashian Discontinues SKKN by Kim After Three Years
Kim Kardashian is shutting down her skincare line, SKKN by Kim, after a three-year run marked by high prices and a failure to reach the cultural prominence of her shapewear brand, Skims. The decision signals a strategic shift for the mogul as she focuses on expanding her legal career and streamlining a demanding schedule.
Kardashian, who recently completed her law program and is slated to star in Ryan murphy’s upcoming series All Fair, initially envisioned SKKN as a comprehensive beauty empire encompassing skincare, color cosmetics, fragrance, hair care, and nails. She told Harper’s Bazaar she “always wanted to shut everything down and launch one beauty brand that would have everything you could imagine, from skincare, color cosmetics, fragrance, hair care, nails-whatever, you know, is under the beauty umbrella.” However, the brand struggled to gain traction due to its luxury price point, with a nine-step skincare routine exceeding $600.
While Skims has achieved a $4 billion valuation, SKKN never reached a comparable level of success. Sources close to Kardashian indicate the closure is a natural outcome of her evolving priorities. “Between her growing business empire and her kids, and her ambitions with social justice and her law career, there just aren’t enough hours in the day,” a source revealed. “Something has to give.”
The move comes as Kardashian seeks to scale back her commitments, balancing her entrepreneurial ventures with her burgeoning legal career and family life. The discontinuation of SKKN reflects a recalibration of her business portfolio, prioritizing ventures with greater market impact and aligning with her long-term goals.
