Ski Jumping: Eva Pinkelnig Injured at Val di Fiemme Test Jump

Predazzo, Italy ⁤- Austrian ski jumper⁤ Eva Pinkelnig is facing‌ a potential end ‍to her ⁣Olympic season after suffering a ⁢serious left knee injury during a training jump at the Predazzo Olympic ‍hill​ on​ thursday, September 18, ⁣2025. The fall occurred during⁤ the second round of a Summer Grand Prix test event.

The injury casts a shadow over Austria‘s team preparations ahead of the February Olympic⁤ Games,for which the ⁤Val ⁢di Fiemme ski⁢ jumps⁤ have recently been⁤ renovated. Pinkelnig, 37, had been ⁣showing promising form, and a critically important⁤ knee ⁣injury could prevent her from competing in the Games.​ Immediate transport to ⁤Austria for‍ thorough ​medical evaluation is underway.

Pinkelnig fell ​after⁢ landing and remained on the⁢ slope,requiring assistance to leave the jump area. “She is not⁣ doing so well, ⁤she‌ is still a bit in shock.⁤ we don’t know exactly yet. We are currently organizing that she⁢ comes to our doctors quickly and everything is checked out​ there,” said women’s head ​coach Thomas Diethart in​ an interview with ORF.

Diethart expressed concern about the severity of⁢ the injury, ⁢stating, “You have seen it ended up and‍ the knee⁢ gave in. This is usually not a good sign.” He added,”This ⁢is the worst thing ‍that⁤ can⁢ happen.​ It ​is ⁢very, very⁤ bad because she started to jump really well ‌again last week and ‍now do a good competition.That’s why it’s really the stupidest situation.”

Pinkelnig⁢ Suffers Fall in Predazzo

Eva Pinkelnig ‌sustained a‌ serious​ left knee‌ injury after ⁣a fall during a training jump at‌ the predazzo Olympic⁣ ski jump on Thursday. The⁤ 37-year-old Austrian fell in the second​ round of the Summer ‌Grand Prix after ‍landing.

Should a serious knee injury be confirmed,‍ Pinkelnig’s‍ Olympic season will likely ‌be over before ‍it begins.

Strate​ Claims Victory at Premiere

The Summer Grand Prix in val di Fiemme serves as the first​ competitive test of the ski ⁤jumps following renovations for the ⁢upcoming Olympic Games.

Abigail Strate of Canada ⁢won the event, followed ⁢by Nika ⁢prevc of Slovenia and⁣ Yuka Steo‍ of Japan.another ⁢competition is scheduled to take‍ place on the ‍Großchanze in Predazzo on ​Saturday.
