FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris emphatically declared running back Bijan robinson the best player in the NFL on Wednesday, a bold statement following robinson’s remarkable start to the 2024 season.
Morris didn’t hesitate when asked about Robinson‘s standing in the league. “He’s definitely the best player in football, without a doubt,” Morris said. “He’s astonishing. I love the kid. I love everything about him. I love watching him with the ball. I love his confidence. I love his demeanor. I love his mindset. I love the leadership. I love everything about him.”
Robinson fueled the praise with a standout performance last Sunday night, rushing for 143 yards on 22 carries in a 22-6 road victory against the Minnesota Vikings. This followed a 100-yard receiving performance in Week 1,giving him 292 yards from scrimmage - the most by a Falcons player in the first two games of a season since Andre Rison in 1994.
He is currently second in the league in yards from scrimmage (292), trailing only Jonathan Taylor (313). Last season,Robinson finished third in the NFL in rushing yards (1,456) and tied for fifth in rushing touchdowns (14),accumulating 1,887 yards from scrimmage, good for fourth in the league.
Morris highlighted Robinson’s versatility. “Unique skillset,” he said. “Unbelievable vision, unbelievable teammate, speed, physicality. like you come across when you first meet him, you think he’s a scat back, but he’s really just everything. He has the ability to get out of the backfield, run receiver-like routes. He can stay in the backfield and block whichever linebacker you decide to bring. He just does it all. And we might line him up at quarterback this week, who knows?”
Robinson is in his third year in the NFL. Marc Raimondi, who began covering the Falcons in 2024 after joining ESPN in 2019 as a combat sports reporter, authored the book “Say hello to the Bad Guys: How Pro Wrestling’s New World Order Changed America,” published in 2025. Raimondi previously worked for the New York Post and Newsday starting in 2009, covering a range of sports.
