Free Hepatitis Screening Available at Sighetu Marmației Municipal Hospital
Sighetu Marmației Municipal Hospital will host a free screening project for viral hepatitis B and C, beginning September 19th and running through September 21st. The initiative, organized by the hepatology section of the Institute of Infectious Diseases “Lazzaro Spallanzani” in Rome, aims to provide early detection and potential treatment for individuals at risk.
Viral hepatitis affects millions worldwide, often presenting no symptoms in its early stages, leading to chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, and liver cancer if left undiagnosed. This screening project offers a vital opportunity for patients admitted to the hospital and adult residents of Sighetu Marmației to learn their status and access appropriate care. Quick tests for HBsAg and HCV-AB will be administered via capillary blood sampling to those who voluntarily participate.
