Rare Gold Bracelet Vanishes from Egyptian Museum Ahead of Major Italy Exhibition
Cairo - A rare gold bracelet belonging to a king from Egypt‘s 21st Dynasty has disappeared from the egyptian Museum of Liberation’s restoration department, authorities confirmed Monday. The artifact was reported missing during preparations for its transport to Italy as part of the “Treasures of the Pharaohs” exhibition, scheduled to open October 24 at the Scoderi del Kerenewal in Rome and run through May 3 of next year.
The fate of the bracelet remains unknown as investigators have launched a comprehensive inquiry. According to a source who requested anonymity, all personnel involved with the artifact’s handling and packaging have been detained for questioning, and their mobile phones have been collected as evidence. The exhibition is set to feature 130 artifacts spanning multiple periods of ancient Egyptian civilization.
Authorities have declined to comment on the ongoing investigation. The missing bracelet was discovered during the final stages of preparation for shipment.
