Unand Ranks in Top 250 for Interdisciplinary Research

Andalas University Climbs Global Rankings, Recognized for Interdisciplinary ‍Research & Gender Equality

Padang, Indonesia – Andalas University (Unand)⁤ is ⁣making important ‍strides on the international⁢ stage, achieving a ranking within‍ the‍ top 250 universities globally for​ its work in interdisciplinary research, according to ​the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR). The announcement came during‍ the university’s 69th anniversary celebrations held Saturday in Padang, ⁣West Sumatra.

“This is a ​positive accomplishment, but our ambition is to continually elevate Unand’s standing internationally,” stated Rector Efa Yonnedi. Currently, Unand holds ⁤the ⁢eighth-highest national ranking in Indonesia.

the recognition highlights ​the growing importance‍ of interdisciplinary research – a methodology that‍ leverages insights and techniques from multiple academic disciplines to address complex challenges.

Beyond its research ⁤achievements, Unand is also being​ lauded⁣ for its commitment to‌ gender equality. ​The⁣ university has⁤ secured a place among the top 60 universities worldwide in gender development, a ‌testament⁤ to its proactive policies⁤ promoting equal opportunity.

“We provide opportunities for all ⁤individuals to excel and assume ⁢leadership roles, ⁤irrespective of gender,” explained Yonnedi. ⁣He noted the increasing ‍number of women holding key ⁣positions within the ​university, emphasizing that appointments are based on ⁢merit and ​capability, not gender.

Founded on September 13, 1956, by⁣ Indonesia’s first Vice President Mohammad Hatta, Unand remains dedicated ​to long-term investment in teaching, education, and research. This commitment ⁢aims to foster both increased productivity and tangible benefits for society.

“Our ultimate goal⁤ is⁣ to‌ cultivate graduates‌ who are not⁣ only intellectually⁢ proficient but ⁢also embody‍ strong‍ ethical principles, ⁣integrity, ​and good character ⁢-‌ qualities essential⁣ for success in any field,” Yonnedi ​concluded.
