swansea baker Eliminated from ‘Teh Great British Bake Off’ Despite Intricate Biscuit Creation
Leighton, a 59-year-old software delivery manager originally from Swansea and now living in Surrey, was eliminated from The Great British Bake Off during biscuit week, following the showS second episode. Despite creating orange biscuits featuring an intricate design and chocolate ganache, his bake wasn’t enough to secure his place in the next round.
Leighton expressed feeling “blessed” to have been selected for the show and remained positive about his experience. “I woudl really like to have gone longer without a doubt, but you know, it is indeed what it is,” he saeid. The challenges included making Hobnobs, a biscuit he now views with a changed perspective. “I never want to see a Hobnob again in my life,” he told BBC Radio Surrey. “I will never look one in the eye again with the same respect.”
The baker revealed he remains in contact with his fellow contestants and hinted at the increasing difficulty of the competition. “The challenges don’t get easier” on future episodes, he stated, adding, “I can tell you now, this series is full of exciting turns.Ther’s some fun along the way,without a doubt.”
Despite his elimination, Leighton expressed a desire to repeat the experience. “But I would love to do it all again, without a doubt.” The next episode of The Great British Bake Off will air on Channel 4 on September 16.
