SACSCOC, Troy University’s regional accrediting body, bases its institutional ranking on the highest degree level ⁢offered. Faculty innovation was ‍specifically highlighted as a key driver⁢ of this success. This SACSCOC advancement comes on the heels of other recent accolades, including recognition as⁤ a Doctoral University in the‌ 2025 Carnegie Classifications and a Carnegie Research University‌ – a designation reserved for smaller institutions demonstrating significant research contributions. An instructional role change approved by⁢ the Alabama Commission on higher Education in 2023 further paved the way for expanded doctoral offerings.

Looking ahead, ‍Troy University aims to build on this momentum and achieve‍ R2⁤ research ⁣institution status. “This SACSCOC recognition is a crucial‌ step in our journey,”‌ explained Dr. Kerry Palmer, Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.⁣ “we are dedicated to expanding our‌ research enterprise ‌and fostering a‌ culture of ‌discovery that will benefit both our academic reputation and the communities we serve.”
