Israel Confirms Extensive Air Operation in Doha Targeting Hamas Leaders
Doha,Qatar – Israel conducted a meaningful air operation in Doha targeting senior Hamas leaders,involving more than 10 fighter jets and over 10 munitions,an Israeli official confirmed Tuesday.The long-range attack required in-flight refueling for the aircraft, all of which successfully reached a single target within the Qatari capital.
The operation, described by two Israeli sources as “months in planning” but accelerated in recent weeks, represents a notable escalation in Israel’s efforts to dismantle Hamas leadership operating outside of Gaza. It comes amid ongoing negotiations for the release of hostages held in Gaza and heightened regional tensions.
During an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Tuesday, Qatar condemned the attack as a violation of international law and a threat to regional security.qatar’s representative stated the country “will not tolerate Israel’s reckless behavior and the continuous disturbance of regional security.”
In a letter seen by Reuters, Qatar’s Ambassador Alya Ahmed Saif Al-Thani wrote, “Qatar vehemently condemns this timid criminal attack, which is a blatant violation of all international laws and standards.” She added that investigations are underway and further details will be released as they become available, characterizing the Israeli action as a “serious escalation.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has defended the attack as “totally justified,” according to CNN Brasil reporting. the strike follows a recent incident where a member of qatar’s security forces was killed in the attack, further straining relations between the two countries.
