“Lighter Than a Feather” Premiere in Beijing Draws Praise from Cast & Industry Guests
The Beijing premiere of the film “Lighter Than a feather” saw strong support from its cast adn a host of industry professionals, wiht attendees consistently highlighting the film’s emotional resonance and delicate handling of difficult themes. The event, covered by Phoenix.com, showcased a positive reception for the upcoming release.
Stars Song Jia and Tong Liya were a focal point, with an audience member playfully noting their on-screen dynamic felt like having “two aunts” present, and praising their performances as equally compelling in real life. The comment was delivered with enthusiasm: “its so happy to have two aunts accompany you, and they are also very good in reality!”
Following a screening, several members of the film’s ensemble cast shared their perspectives. Zhan Xin, who portrays A Fei, described the experience as “like reading a poem,” specifically praising the film’s poetic audio-visual language. ning Wentong, playing a mother-in-law and nephew role, stated the film was “entirely ‘relaxed’,” allowing him to watch peacefully without feeling overwhelmed, yet still leaving a lasting impression. He Kailang, playing the boss character, pinpointed a key narrative element, observing that the film successfully addressed a potentially heavy situation – the departure of zhong Shi for Li Yu and Shen Feihong – with a “lighter than feather” approach. Director Rao Xiaozhi,who also appears in an Easter egg scene,commented that he “saw women’s poems in the world.”
The premiere also welcomed surprise guests from the wider film industry. Liang Lin, producer of “The Unknown,” described the film’s depiction of female emotions as “Shan Tai to suppress the heart,” referencing the weight of those feelings. Actor Wang Junkai noted the film “has intertwined with tears,” and praised the director’s accurate portrayal of character states. Actor Dong Xuan highlighted the film’s balance, stating it was “a heavy thing but full of laughter,” and commended the actors for making the experience accessible and enjoyable for the audience, calling it “amazing.”

It is also a major literary and artistic creation funding project of the Shanghai cultural Development Foundation.
Pre-sale tickets are currently available, and a second round of limited pre-shot screenings will take place this weekend in 23 cities across the country. The film is scheduled for official release on September 13th.
