Man Shot at Carrs Grocery Store in Anchorage, Alaska

A man was ⁤shot and​ wounded ⁣Sunday⁤ morning at the entrance of​ a Carrs grocery store in West Anchorage. The incident occurred just after 8:30 a.m. at⁢ the store located⁤ on ‍West Northern Lights‍ Boulevard, according ‍to the Anchorage Police Department.

The​ shooting ‍is being ⁤investigated as an isolated incident, police say, though the circumstances surrounding it⁣ remain unclear. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body and was transported⁣ to ⁢a local hospital with ‍injuries ⁤described ⁣as non-life-threatening. ‌This incident‌ raises concerns about safety in public spaces and‍ impacts shoppers and ⁣employees ​at the Aurora​ Village Carrs location.

Anchorage Police Department spokesperson Gina romero‌ stated‌ that officers “instantly secured the scene and ⁣closed⁤ one ‌entrance”⁢ upon arrival. Detectives have made contact with individuals believed to be‍ involved in the shooting,‍ but as of Monday ‌afternoon, no criminal charges‍ had been filed.

A manager at the Carrs store referred inquiries ⁣to a corporate media representative who did not respond to a⁤ request for comment.

Romero, citing the ongoing investigation, declined to‍ provide further details.
