Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4 reopened shortly after 8:00 PM BST Monday following a precautionary evacuation triggered by reports of possible hazardous materials. Teh London Fire Brigade (LFB) was initially called to the terminal around 5:00 PM BST to assess the situation, prompting the evacuation of the check-in area.
Specialist officers from the Metropolitan Police, alongside the LFB and London Ambulance Service, conducted a thorough search of the area. Authorities confirmed no trace of any adverse substance was found.
Twenty-one individuals were evaluated by paramedics; 20 were treated and discharged at the scene, while one was transported to a hospital. None of those assessed sustained life-threatening or life-changing injuries.”We are very sorry for the disruption caused,” a Heathrow spokesperson stated.The airport confirmed via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that it was ”doing everything we can to ensure flights depart as planned today.” Flight data indicated minimal disruption to arrivals and departures during the evacuation.
The cause of the initial alert remains under inquiry. Firefighters were stood down at approximately 8:20 PM BST.
