The Virginia Lottery announced Sunday that sales from the ⁤42 drawings leading up to Saturday night’s historic jackpot generated an estimated $29.6 million in‍ profit for K-12 public education in the Commonwealth.

The surge in ticket sales also resulted in numerous prizes for Virginia players in Saturday’s ‍drawing. more than 266,000 tickets purchased in Virginia won prizes, including five worth $100,000 each and four worth $50,000 each.

Winning $100,000 tickets were sold at: Gobble Stop in Barren Springs, JW Express in Farmville,⁢ two Wawa locations in Richmond and ‌Stafford, and ⁢Murphy Express in Winchester. $50,000 tickets were purchased at a Safeway in Fairfax, Varina Market⁢ in Henrico, a Wawa in Manassas, and through the Virginia Lottery app.

The winning numbers for the September 6th drawing were 11-23-44-61-62, with a Powerball number⁣ of 17.the jackpot has now reset to $20 million for⁤ Monday night’s drawing.

The Virginia Lottery emphasizes that all sales revenue directly supports education. In Fiscal Year 2025, the Lottery contributed over $901 million to K-12 schools statewide, representing approximately 10% of virginia’s public school budget. This means that even without a jackpot winner in Virginia, the recent Powerball excitement provided a significant financial⁤ benefit to classrooms across the Commonwealth.
