Country Music Star John Rich Praises Trump‘s Intervention in Tennessee Farmland Dispute
NASHVILLE, TN – Country music artist John Rich is crediting former President Donald Trump wiht intervening in a dispute involving the Tennessee valley Authority (TVA) adn landowners in tennessee, including Rich himself. The singer-songwriter says Trump’s direct involvement led to the removal of TVA board members and a potential overhaul of the agency’s charter.
The conflict centers on the TVA’s use of eminent domain to acquire farmland for solar energy projects, a practice landowners argue disregards property rights and constitutional protections. Rich, who owns property in Roane county, Tennessee, has been a vocal opponent of the TVA’s actions, claiming the agency has been unresponsive to concerns from local citizens.
“He’s like, ‘What is going on?’ I said, ‘It’s bad.’ ‘What’s going on down here?’ And so he weighed in on it,started firing members of the board of the TVA and is gonna replace them all,” Rich told Fox News.”what I want to see happen is TVA to completely have to change their charter… We need power in this country, but treat American citizens like they should be treated and respect their property rights and respect their constitutional rights.”
Rich highlighted what he perceives as a proactive approach taken by the trump administration, recalling frequent Cabinet meetings where the former president directly questioned officials about their progress.”And again,I think a lot of that is due to the engagement level of his cabinet,of trump himself and of his Cabinet,” Rich said. “You know, when you see live Cabinet meetings and everybody’s sitting in a room, I think he’s done six or seven of them so far, and he just goes around the table, what have you done this month? Okay, tell us what you’ve done, what about you? And the whole table, have you ever seen anything like that? I haven’t. it’s as those people are patriots. They know they have a short window to get a lot of things done.”
The TVA, a federally owned corporation, provides electricity to millions across seven southeastern states. The agency has faced increasing scrutiny over it’s land acquisition practices as it pursues renewable energy goals. The outcome of the board replacements and potential charter changes could significantly impact the TVA’s future operations and its relationship with landowners in the region.
