“I Got One More Ring”: Kelce Reflects on Life with Swift ahead of Brazil Game
SAO PAULO, Brazil – Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce jokingly attributed a recent addition to his jewelry collection to his engagement with pop superstar Taylor Swift during a press conference Thursday in Sao paulo. The three-time Super Bowl champion is preparing to face the Los angeles Chargers tonight at NeoQuimica Arena.
“I got one more ring for it,” Kelce said, referencing his engagement ring. “I would say ever since I’ve been dating Taylor, life has been fun.”
Kelce acknowledged increased public attention as announcing his engagement last week, stating he’s grown accustomed to “a lot more eyes” on his activities and now understands what it means to “live life on a high.” Quarterback Patrick Mahomes playfully agreed, calling it “a dream, dude.”
Despite the heightened profile, head coach Andy Reid emphasized that Kelce’s dedication to the game remains unchanged.”He is working very hard this training camp, and in the offseason, and I know he looks forward to getting started,” Reid said following the Chiefs’ practice session. “He’s in a good, good place.”
Kelce and Swift were publicly seen together for the first time as thier engagement at a college football game between Nebraska and Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium, where the 35-year-old Kelce previously played for the Cincinnati Bearcats.
The Chiefs are embracing the opportunity to play an international game, despite the 12-hour flight to Brazil. Kelce noted the enthusiastic reception from local fans upon their arrival at the airport. “We are trying to take this game worldwide,” he said. ”We have a good following here. That matters, too.”
Coach Reid echoed this sentiment, stating the Chiefs and Chargers are “privileged to be an ambassador of sorts” for the NFL in Brazil, which is hosting its second NFL game.He described the airport welcome as “unbelievable,” with fans “decked out in red and yellow.”
Kelce also playfully imitated Mahomes during the press conference, recounting the enthusiastic fan turnout and jokingly referencing a previous comment about his geographical knowledge.”Ah,man,it was crazy. It was a lot of fun seeing all the fans there,” he said in a Mahomes impression. ”He had that one coming for telling everyone I didn’t know where Brazil was on a map.”
The game will be played in the same stadium where the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers last year.
On the field, rookie offensive tackle Josh simmons, drafted 32nd overall this year, is set to make his NFL debut after recovering from an injury. Reid stated Simmons will be “stepping up and rising to that challenge,” and will be facing “some good defensive ends this week.”
