TMC MP Moitra Faces New Allegations Over Religious Remarks

TMC MP⁣ Mahua ⁤Moitra Faces FIRs Over Remarks on Amit Shah, alleged Communal⁣ Comments

Raipur, Chhattisgarh – Trinamool Congress‌ (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra is ​facing legal action after ‌an⁤ FIR was registered against her in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on Saturday for allegedly making “objectionable” remarks against union Home Minister Amit‍ Shah.⁤ The case stems from comments Moitra reportedly made during a media interaction on Thursday, accusing Shah of neglecting his ⁣responsibilities regarding border security.

The FIR, filed by Raipur resident gopal Samanto, ⁢accuses ‍Moitra of offenses ​under Indian Penal Code⁢ sections 196 (promoting⁣ enmity between different groups) and 197​ (imputations prejudicial⁢ to national integration).‌ Samanto ⁣alleges Moitra’s ​statements have instilled fear among Bangladeshi refugees residing in Raipur’s Mana Camp area since⁤ 1971 and could incite communal tensions.

This action follows separate police complaints filed ⁣against Moitra by BJP leaders in West Bengal, specifically in Krishnanagar and Kolkata. These ‍complaints ⁢also reference remarks Moitra made questioning the voting patterns ‌of ‌beneficiaries of ‍West Bengal state ​schemes, notably within scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Namasudra ‍communities. ‍

According to reports,Moitra was purportedly heard saying that voters who benefit⁢ from ⁣schemes like Laxmi Bhandar and Swasthya Sathi still vote ⁢for the ​BJP during elections,questioning their allegiance. She also reportedly referred to ‘Tulsi Malas’ as “wooden malas,” prompting accusations from BJP state legal co-incharge ⁢Tarunjyoti ‍Tiwari that the ⁤TMC is “against Hindus.” Tiwari further contested Moitra’s claim that state government doles were funded by the TMC, stating they are derived from taxpayers’ money.
