by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Surfer Soli Bailey underwent spinal surgery this week after sustaining a serious neck injury in Hawaii back in February. The injury, which involved a ruptured disc in his cervical spine compressing his spinal cord, has significantly impacted his ability to surf and his overall health.

Bailey, the winner of the inaugural Natural Selection Surf event, shared the news on social media, detailing the physical and emotional toll of his recovery. He described the injury as a moment where he “seen my physical health and my future flash before my eyes,” facing the “very real possibility that my life may never look the same again.”

The surgery marks a turning point in his recovery, providing him with a “path forward.” Bailey expressed gratitude for his support system, including his medical team, fiancé, family, and sponsors.

Despite the setback, bailey remains optimistic about his return to surfing and full health, stating, “This is just the beginning of the road back… I’m glad to see the light at the end of the tunnel.” He plans to share his recovery journey, including its challenges and triumphs, with his followers.
