AMG Unveils V8 Track Weapon to Challenge Porsche
New Concept Previews Ultimate GT Rival Aimed at Lap Records
Mercedes-AMG is signaling its intent to dominate track performance with a V8-powered machine designed to outperform the formidable Porsche 911 GT3 RS. This potent new entry will be previewed by the Concept AMG GT Track Sport.
V8 Power Reaffirmed
The upcoming model, based on the 2023 AMG GT, confirms that AMG is not abandoning internal combustion engines just yet. This announcement comes despite ongoing development of an all-electric AMG GT slated for 2027, which was hinted at by the Concept GT XX.
This new flagship GT is expected to succeed the 2022 AMG GT Black Series. That car famously produced 730bhp from a heavily revised twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, a powerplant AMG aims to surpass with its latest creation.
More Than Just a Concept
While technical specifications for the concept remain undisclosed, AMG has confirmed it signifies an “expansion of the GT series” powered by a V8 engine. Expectations are high for the production version to reclaim the title of the most powerful series-production V8.
The current top-tier variant in the second-generation AMG GT lineup is the 603bhp track-focused Pro model. This new track-honed contender is poised to significantly elevate performance benchmarks.

Performance Context
The pursuit of lap records is a fierce battleground in the automotive world. For instance, the current Nürburgring Nordschleife production car lap record is held by the Mercedes-AMG ONE at 6 minutes and 35.183 seconds, demonstrating the caliber of performance AMG is striving for (Mercedes-AMG News).
