What anime, movies, and games have inspired you to enter this industry?
My entry into this industry wasn’t driven by specific anime, movies,or games. Instead, a near-fatal traffic accident at age 19 profoundly impacted my viewpoint, making me realize the fragility of life. This realization spurred me to pursue filmmaking.
My father, a stage director, has also been a significant influence. Observing his work has taught me a great deal about the power of dialog as a form of performance and how subtle changes in staging-like character placement, distance from the camera, and the proportion of the frame they occupy-can effectively convey shifts in relationships and strength of will. I particularly appreciate the impact of fixed-point, static camera work.
What advice would you give to younger generations who are aiming to enter this industry?
I believe that your mindset is key to expanding your opportunities. While creating a project is a collaborative effort and rarely unfolds exactly as planned, it’s crucial not to give up when faced with challenges. Rather, strive to give your absolute best effort at every stage. By pushing yourself to achieve 100% of your capacity at any given moment, you’ll gain a clear understanding of your maximum potential, even if the outcome isn’t what you initially envisioned or if unexpected deviations occur. This self-awareness is vital for growth and will pave the way for your next steps. continuous enhancement and a willingness to try again are essential. Cultivating both a subjective and an objective perspective on your work is important.
