Social media users captured striking images of torrential rain in cities like Ogre, Mangalsala, and Murjāni. Similar intense downpours were also reported in other areas, including the Jelgava region.

The Latvian meteorological service issued a yellow-grade warning for thunderstorms, effective across the entire country from 8 AM until 9 PM on July 16.
