Xander Schauffele Doesn’t Keep Trophies: ‘No Idea’ Where Gold Medal Is

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Xander schauffele, fresh off his Open Championship victory, admitted he has no idea where his Olympic gold medal is, highlighting his understated approach too success.

Schauffele and his wife,Maya Lowe, lead a deliberately simple life,a stark contrast to the fanfare that often accompanies major sporting achievements. While Schauffele celebrates his wins, his mindset, much like that of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, is focused on the next challenge rather than dwelling on past glories.

“What am I going to do with it? I don’t really invite people over to my house. Am I just going to go look at it myself?” Schauffele mused about the gold medal. “I don’t want to walk into a trophy room like, ‘Look how great I am.’ I was just raised to think that way, and it’s kind of stuck.”

When asked what adorns the walls of their Florida home in lieu of trophies, Schauffele shared that his wife, Maya Lowe, had hung pictures of him winning the Olympic medal in his gym. He humorously noted that she placed them so high he needs a ladder to reach them, a placement he finds mildly irritating. He suggested that a picture of himself in a Masters jacket woudl be more motivating.

schauffele indicated that if given the choice, he would prefer to display photos of his dogs or even nothing at all, perhaps a clock. “I’m always late, so maybe a clock would be good for me,” he quipped.

He mentioned that Ryder Cup captain keegan Bradley has advised him to savor his important victories. Schauffele anticipates he will do so at some point, but for now, his focus remains on maintaining his momentum. “But right now I really want to keep my head down and keep charging,” he stated.
