A man took demolition into his own hands last night in Venlo to silence a persistent beep. The police were alerted around 10:30 PM to a man operating an excavator with a gripper at a building site. The individual, an employee of the involved contractor, was aware that demolition activities had already commenced.

Upon arrival at the Craneveldstraat building site, officers discovered that the persistent beeping noise, emanating from a smoke detector, had been disturbing the neighborhood for hours. The man had decided to resolve the issue himself by operating the excavator. Police found him dressed in “neat clothing,” according to regional broadcaster L1 News.

Persistent Beep

The man explained to the officers that the smoke detector had not been silenced by previous demolition efforts and that last night’s work also proved ineffective. The police report stated, “Despite the demolition of several spaces where the squeak seemed to come from, the bitch did not let itself be caught.” The neighborhood was consequently facing another night with the disruptive beep.
