Game Mania Reboot Aims for Lowest Prices Online

After bankruptcy, Game Mania is set for a digital relaunch focusing exclusively on games and aiming to undercut competitors with a lowest price guarantee, according to Van Tuijl.

New Strategy: Games Only

Van Tuijl is planning to make the new web stores a success by pricing games more affordably. He intends to be the market’s cheapest option, even compared to major online retailers.

The new strategy will not include the sale of toys and other pop-culture items. “So we are not going to sell dolls or something, as Game Mania did in recent years. We are selective and only concentrate on games,” Van Tuijl stated.

Lowest Price Guarantee

To ensure customers get the best deals, Van Tuijl is considering a price-matching policy. He explained, “The games at Game Mania were quite expensive for the bankruptcy. We will be the cheapest, so also cheaper than other large online players. I even think about giving a lowest price guarantee. So that you get the difference in price, if you find a game cheaper somewhere else. But we will make a definitive decision next week.”

Future Plans

For now, there are no plans to re-open brick-and-mortar stores. Van Tuijl mentioned the possibility of an “experience shop” in the future, where customers could test new releases.
