If you’re unfamiliar with Glastonbury, think of it as the U.K.’s take on Coachella. Skip the desert and flowers for mud and boho chic. (Yes, it’s a vibe.) Depending on who you ask, the festival’s aura can take a back seat to the performances. This year, Black British artists and attendees were front and center for the sights and sounds. Glastonbury had performances from global R&B and hip hop stars Joy Crookes, ShaboozeyJorja Smith, Bashy and Rachel Chinouriri and more. EBONY caught up with British hip-hop fave Bashywho many audiences know stateside for his roles in Them and Black Cake. He made a triumphant return to the iconic summer festival stage. “We played Glastonbury 15 years ago, and now we’re here again together, playing at a bigger stage and crowd,” said Bashy. A vibrant crowd it was. From U.K. personalities Clara Amfo and Kelechi Okafor to artists Ghetts and Kojey Radical, they definitely brought the vibe.
