Big 12 Reveals 2025-26 Basketball Schedules
The Big 12 Conference has revealed its scheduling plans for the 2025-26 men’s and women’s basketball seasons, generating excitement among fans as teams prepare for the upcoming challenges. The new format will see teams facing each other in a variety of matchups to ensure an engaging and balanced competition.
Conference Matchups Announced
The Conference has disclosed the scheduling framework for both men’s and women’s basketball for the 2025-26 seasons. Every school will compete in home-and-home series against three other conference teams, as well as facing the other 12 opponents once each. This translates to an 18-game Big 12 schedule, with six home games and six on the road. The goal is to create a schedule that provides a balance in terms of travel and competition.
Team Achievements and Rankings
Three Big 12 programs are recognized among ESPN’s Top 10 women’s basketball transfer portal winners. Also, three women’s basketball signees from the Big 12 were selected for the McDonald’s All-American Game. The conference also has five men’s basketball programs ranked in ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25, with three schools in the top 10.
The Big 12 women’s basketball season in 2024-25 marked the first time the Conference had at least five teams finish the season ranked in The Associated Press Top 25 Poll for consecutive seasons since 2010. The league has sent multiple teams to the Sweet 16 in four of the last five NCAA tournaments. At least two teams have reached the regional semifinals in 22 of the last 25 tournaments, resulting in one of the highest percentages of any league during that time.
Big 12 teams dominated the 2025 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, with a 66.7% winning percentage, highlighted by Houston’s impressive journey to the national championship game. Seven Conference teams were selected for the tournament. This marks the sixth straight time that at least six Big 12 men’s basketball squads have been chosen for the tournament.
Championship Venues
Postseason champions for both sports will again be crowned at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. The women’s basketball event will take place from March 4-8/9, followed by the men’s basketball tournament from March 10-14.
