Melania Trump Statue Stolen in Slovenian Hometown
A life-size statue of former First Lady Melania Trump has been stolen from sevnica, Slovenia, teh village where she grew up. According to reports from Slovenian media, including The Slovenia Times, the statue was cut off at the ankles before being taken. Local police have launched an examination into the theft.
A History of Vandalism
The stolen bronze statue depicted ms.Trump as she appeared during the 2017 inauguration of former president Donald Trump. This was not the first statue of the former first lady to meet an unfortunate end. In 2019, a wooden version of the statue, placed on a pedestal on a private island near Sevnica, was set on fire. It was later replaced by the bronze version that was recently stolen.
The Artist’s vision
The statues were designed by American artist Brad Downey, who described them as anti-monument
and antipropaganda.
Downey intended the artwork to spark dialog about the political climate in the United States, specifically highlighting the contrast between Mr. Trump’s strict immigration policies and his marriage to Ms. Trump, an immigrant.
I am a bit sad that it is gone. I suspect it has something to do with the re -election of Donald Trump, but who knows.
