Andrés Ancira, son of the late Manuel Ancira, former deputy general director of Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA), was arrested and transferred to the Apodaca prison in Nuevo León on April 28.The arrest stems from an imputation of alleged fraud involving a notable sum.

Mr. Ancira was apprehended at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) upon his arrival from San Antonio, Texas. He was then transported to Nuevo León to be presented before a control judge. The charges against him are substantial.

According to reports, in October 2022, the alleged victim entered into a contract with Ancira, SA de CV, and later transferred 10 million dollars as part of the agreement.

The arrest was executed as part of an operation stemming from an arrest warrant issued on October 22, 2024, by a control judge. Following his presentation to the judge, Andrés Ancira requested duplicity of the constitutional term

Preventive Detention
On thursday, May 1, mr. Ancira was officially linked to the crime of fraud. The court ordered preventive prison
justified by the perceived flight risk due to his residence abroad.He has since been admitted to the Apodaca prison, where he will remain while the process linking hearing are conducted.
