Victoria Roschina: Journalist’s Body Returned by Russia Amid Torture Allegations
The body of Victoria Roschina, a 27-year-old ukrainian journalist, has been returned by Russia, according to multiple media outlets. Reports indicate that Roschina was allegedly subjected to brutal torture prior to her death.
Capture and Imprisonment
Roschina was reportedly seized in occupied Ukrainian territory and held as a prisoner of war. Russian forces allegedly transferred her remains to Ukraine, initially labeling the body as that of an unidentified man.
however, DNA testing later confirmed the body’s identity.
Signs of Torture
Ukrainian authorities have stated that Roschina’s body exhibited numerous signs of torture. These included:
- traces of burns on her feet, possibly indicative of electric shock.
- Broken ribs.
- Missing parts of eyeballs,brain,and larynx.
Alleged Organ Removal
Experts suggest that internal organs may have been removed in an attempt to conceal the extent of the torture. This practice is described as a common and cruel practice in Russia
according to The Sun.
Timeline of Events
Victoria Roschina disappeared in 2023 while working as a journalist in russian-occupied territories of Ukraine. Former prisoners of war who were held with her reported that Roschina was initially detained in Enerhodar. She was then moved to Melitopol three days later, were she was allegedly held for four months and subjected to severe torture.
“Concentration Camp” Conditions
Roschina was reportedly transferred to Taganrog’s prison, described by a former prisoner as a concentration camp.
The former prisoner added, Even the word “concentration camp” is too gentle to describe it.
Despite the alleged torture, Roschina reportedly refused to cooperate with her captors, stating, I will never work with you.
