A total of 2,247 persons, who resided illegally in Cyprus, have been deported/repatriated from the territory of the Republic of Cyprus in 2024 (until 8/3/2024), as part of the Police’s efforts to return third-country nationals to their countries of origin.

During the corresponding period last year, the total number amounted to 1,645 deportations/returns.

The last joint forced return flight took place on 5/3/2024 with the deportation of a number of persons, carried out under the coordination of the FRONTEX Agency. This is the 3rd participation of the Cyprus Police in a joint FRONTEX repatriation and deportation operation for this year.

The efforts of the Police and the Aliens and Immigration Service, to maximize the number of returns, continue.
