New Delhi. At least one flight has been diverted from Delhi to Jaipur after heavy rain and lightning affected operations at the capital’s airport on Monday. News agency ANI reported that Vistara flight UK742 from Guwahati to Delhi was diverted towards Jaipur due to bad weather and heavy air traffic at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Another Vistara flight UK 778 from Kolkata to Delhi was also diverted to Lucknow during the day due to air traffic congestion at Delhi airport, the report said.
Vistara said on ‘X’, “Due to bad weather and heavy air traffic, flights coming from Delhi and Mumbai may be affected. Please visit the link for latest flight status.”
Indigo also issued a “travel advisory” and said that flight movement in Delhi has been affected due to heavy rains. The airline posted on ‘X’, “#6ETravelAdvisory: Flight operations to/from #Delhi affected due to heavy rain. You can keep track of your flight status by visiting https://bit.ly/2EjJGGT. For any assistance, please feel free to reach out.”
A similar post was also put up by SpiceJet, in which it was warned that flights to and from Delhi airport may be affected. The airline’s post on ‘X’ read, “#TravelUpdate: We are experiencing ATC traffic in Delhi (DEL) due to inclement weather. All departures/arrivals and their connecting flights may be affected. “Passengers are requested to keep an eye on the status of their flight.”
