After weeks of rain, the level of the Loire stabilizes in Ancenis

Thanks to a few days without very rainy disturbances, the Loire stabilizes. In one month, in Ancenis-Saint-Géréon, the river level rose from – 3 m on October 21 to 1.73 m this Tuesday, November 21, 2023 (data from Vigicrues). Over the period, the maximum height, 2 m, was reached on Saturday November 18 at midday.

Little to no rain in the coming days

The Loire has truly put on its autumn clothes: the sandbanks and navigation groynes are under water. The secondary arms, such as those of Batailleuse Island, Mocquart Island, between Varades, Saint-Florent-le-Vieil and Anetz are submerged again.

If we rely on Météo-France forecasts, no heavy rainy disturbances are expected between now and the beginning of December. Vigicrues expects, in the coming days, a continued drop in the level of the Loire, with a water level announced at 0.71 m this Friday, November 24.
