(CNN) — Mark Regev, a senior advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told CNN on Friday that the Israeli army’s “expansion” of ground operations in Gaza aims to “increase pressure on Hamas,” and added: “This pressure will increase and continue to increase until… “We achieve our goal.”
On the other hand, Izzat al-Rishq, a member of the Hamas political bureau, said on Friday that “Hamas is ready to defeat the Israeli forces if they enter the Gaza Strip,” and added: “If Netanyahu decides to introduce ground forces into Gaza tonight, the resistance is ready.”
Al-Rishq’s statements come after Israel announced the expansion of its ground operations in the Gaza Strip.
