The Canadian Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador to Ottawa Oleg Stepanov. This was announced today, January 18, by a diplomat.

The head of the Russian diplomatic mission noted that the Canadian authorities did not name the reason why Stepanov was invited to the foreign ministry.
In 2022, the diplomat was repeatedly summoned to the Canadian Foreign Ministry due to the situation around Ukraine.
