9,973 people living with HIV on antiretroviral (ARV) treatment in 2021

This revelation was made on Thursday, August 19, 2021, in Bouaflé by the deputy head of the health action service of the regional directorate of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage, Dr Gueu Judith. According to RTI Info, which provides this information, 278 children are among those living with HIV on antiretroviral treatment in 2021.

In 2020, Marahoué registered 8,016 people living with HIV (PLHIV) on ARVs including 311 children against 7,153 PLHIV including 334 children in 2019.

80 health structures carry out AIDS control activities in the Marahoué region, comprising seven laboratories which carry out biological examinations for the diagnosis and monitoring of PLWHIV. A relay laboratory for viral load has been available at the CHR in Bouaflé since December 2020, in order to receive and store blood samples before their transmission to the viral load platform laboratory in Daloa and Gagnoa.
