The head of the White House called the terrorist attacks in the United States that took place 20 years ago as the greatest force uniting America.

US President Joe Biden paid tribute to the victims on Saturday and delivered an address to the nation on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Speech by the head of state was broadcast on his Twitter page.

“For me, 9/11 is the main lesson. Its essence is that in the most vulnerable moments, in the battle for the soul of America, unity is our greatest strength. Unity does not mean that we must believe in the same thing. We must have a fundamental respect and faith in each other and in this nation, “said the head of the White House.

He noted that “the dark forces of human nature – fear and anger, resentment and violence – have not been able to undermine the unity of America.”

As you know, today the president and the first lady are planning to visit three places affected by the attacks: the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon, as well as a field near Shanksville in Pennsylvania, where United Airlines Flight 93 crashed.

In New York, the commemoration ceremony traditionally begins at 8:46 am, when the first plane hijacked by terrorists crashed into the north tower of the mall. During the ceremony, the names of all the victims will be read out with a pause in the minutes when the rest of the terrorist attacks took place.

We will remind, the terrorist attack of September 11 became the largest in modern history. The list of his victims includes 2,977 people, and more than 4,000 were injured.
